Dioxan-linked biflavanoid from the heartwood of Acacia mearnsii

Abstract

The isolation and characterisation of a novel biflavanoid from Acacia mearnsii heartwood is described. By means of n.m.r. and mass spectrometry it is shown that the two flavanoid units are linked through a dioxan ring. The likely conformation of the molecule is discussed.
