The reaction of tetramethylsilane with lead(IV) in trifluoroacetic acid

Abstract

Tetramethylsilane reacts rapidly at room temperature with a solution of lead tetra-acetate in trifluoroacetic acid to give methyl acetate, methyl trifluoroacetate, and trimethylsilyl acetate.
