The 1,6-addition of nitrosobenzenes to cycloheptatriene

Abstract

Chemical evidence substantiating the 1,6-addition of nitrosobenzene to cycloheptatriene is now given. With cyclohepta-1,3-diene 1,4-addition of 1-chloro-4-nitrosobenzene occurs; this adduct upon reduction gives a cycloheptane derivative which is not identical with the isomer derived from cycloheptatriene.
