Mass spectra of isomers. Part II. Electron-impact-induced isomerisation of some derivatives of cyclobutane

Abstract

The electron-impact-induced fragmentation of some isomeric derivatives of cyclobutane is interpreted in terms of the formation of a cyclohexene intermediate; the structure of the intermediate is dependent upon the parent cyclobutane. The losses of C2H5· and C3H6 from the molecular ions are a consequence of the formation of the cyclohexene intermediates.
