A comparison of and improvements in the methods used for the preparation of µ-amido-µ-hydroxo-(and related) dicobalt complexes in the ammine and ethylenediamine series

Abstract

Until recently both the µ-amido-µ-superoxo-bis[tetra-amminecobalt(III)] and µ-amido-µ-hydroxo-bis[tetra-amminecobalt(III)] complexes have been obtained from Vortmann's Sulphate. A better method has been reported for the preparation of the µ-amido-µ-superoxo-bis[tetra-amminecobalt(III)] component, and improvements have also been made in the method used for the conversion of the latter into the ethylenediamine analogue en2Co·µ-(NH2,O2)·Co(en)24+. Quicker and more effective methods for the preparation of µ-amido-µ-hydroxo-(and related) complexes in both the ammine and ethylenediamine series are now described.
