The infrared spectra of metal carbonyl compounds. Part III. Exchange studies on tetracarbonylrhodium complexes of the type Rh2(CO)4X2(X = Cl, Br, I, SEt, or SPh)

Abstract

The exchange of C18O with CO groups of a series of compounds Rh2(CO)4X2(X = Cl, Br, I, SEt, or SPh) with time has been studied by following the variation of the i.r. spectrum in the CO stretching region. The CO stretching frequencies for the possible isotopically substituted species have been calculated and the observed spectra assigned; Cotton–Kraihanzel parameters have been calculated.
