Reactions of tetrasulphur tetranitride with halides. Part II. Some metal halides in thionyl chloride

Abstract

The reactions between tetrasulphur tetranitride and chlorides of (a) manganese(II) and cobalt(II); (b) zinc, chromium(III), iron(III), and zirconium(IV); (c) antimony(v); and (d) beryllium in thionyl chloride solution or suspension have been found to give products of the types (a) SNMCl2, (b) S2N2MCln, (c) S3N3SbCl6, and (d) S2N2OBeCl2(M = metal). I.r. spectra are reported. The possibility that some of these compounds contain new ring-systems is discussed.
