The self-diffusion coefficients of water and dioxan in the water–dioxan system

Abstract

Measurements have been made over a wide concentration range of the self-diffusion coefficients of both components of the water–dioxan system by means of the nuclear magnetic resonance spin-echo technique. Both the changes in magnitude of the diffusion coefficients and the activation energies for the process indicate that concentrations of dioxan up to about 20 mole per cent have a structure-promoting effect on the water.
