Photo-electron and ultra-violet spectroscopy of transition metal carbonyl derivatives

Abstract

Principles which have been used to explain the ultra-violet spectrum of metal carbonyls M(CO)6 are applied to substituted derivatives of type M(CO)5L, M(CO)4L2. A model is developed which is consistent with the spectra of substituted chromium carbonyls, but not with the photo-electron spectrum of CH3Mn(CO)5.
