Intramolecular functionalisation of the isopropyl group of dehydroabietic acid

Abstract

Functionalisation of the isopropyl group of dehydroabietic acid (Ia) has been achieved by intramolecular cyclisations of the 12-carboxy-derivative (Ic) with lead tetra-acetate and by thermolysis of the diazomethyl ketone (Ie).
