The kinetics of the oxidation of halide ions by bismuth(V) in aqueous solution: evidence for BiIV as a reactive intermediate
Abstract
The fact that the rates of oxidation of I–, Br–, and Cl– by BiV are identical and are zero-order with respect to halide ion concentration suggests that the rate-determining step is the production of the reactive intermediates BiIV and the hydroxy-radical.
