The preparation of n-B18H22via the protonolysis of the tetradecahydroundecaborate ion, B11H14

Abstract

A simple two-step stereospecific synthesis of pure n-B18H22 from decaborane is reported via protonolysis of the B11H14 ion: a possible reaction pathway involves both B11H13L and B9H13L species.
