The intermediacy of geissoschizine in indole alkaloid biosynthesis: rearrangement to the Strychnos skeleton

Abstract

Geissoschizine (VI) is proved to undergo rearrangement in Vinca rosea plants to form akuammicine (XIII) together with members of the other three major classes of indole alkaloids.
