Photolysis of benzyl desyl sulphide and related compounds: formation of 2-aryl-benzo[b]thiophens

Abstract

Irradiation of benzyl (or triphenylmethyl) desyl sulphide or didesyl disulphide yielded 2-phenyl-benzo[b]thiophen, and evidence for its mode of formation is presented.
