Reaction of alkyl benzoates with diphenylphosphinous chloride

Abstract

The dealkylation of alkyl benzoates by diphenyl-phosphinous chloride results in the formation of varying yields of benzoyl chloride, alkyl diphenylphosphine oxides, and alkyl halides.
