Effect of diquaternary ammonium bromides on proton spin-lattice relaxation times in water

Abstract

Experimental results are reported for the spin-lattice relaxation times and chemical shifts of 1H nuclei of water molecules in solutions of two diquaternary ammonium bromides. In addition, measurements have been made in H2O + D2O mixtures and these are used to separate out the contribution of the solute protons to the total relaxation rate change of the water protons. The effect of CH2 groups appears to be to produce some structure breaking.
