Decomposition of chemically activated trichloroethyl radicals

Abstract

Calculations of the rate of association of Cl atoms with cis- and trans-dichloroethylene and of the rate of decomposition of the chemically activated trichloroethyl radicals have been made. The computations resemble those made previously for a similar system, ethyl radical decomposition. The calculated behaviour is compared with previously published results of other workers. Reasonable agreement of measured and calculated magnitudes for the rate of radical decomposition is found.
