Polypeptides with a known repeating sequence of amino-acids. Synthesis of poly-(L-lysyl-L-alanylglycine) hydrobromide

Abstract

Polymerisation of ε-N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-lysyl-L-alanylglycine pentachlorophenyl ester hydrochloride on the monomer, ε-N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-lysyl-L-alanylglycine methyl ester hydrochloride, at a relatively high dilution, gave poly-(ε-N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-lysyl-L-alanylglycine). The N-benzyloxycarbonyl protecting groups were removed to give the title compound. This polymer was optically pure and had a number average molecular weight of 13,100.
