The reaction between cyanide and the mixed disulphide of cysteine and penicillamine

Abstract

Cyanide reacts with ββ-dimethylcystine, but much more slowly than with cystine. The products are penicillamine and 2-amino-2-thiazoline-4-carboxylic acid.
