Synthesis and nuclear magnetic resonance characterization of 1,1,2,2-tetra-aminoethanes, 1,1,2-triaminoethenes, and 1,2-dialkoxy-1,2-di-aminoethanes

Abstract

The reaction between glyoxal and secondary amines gives 1,1,2,2-tetra-aminoethanes, which, on distillation under reduced pressure, yield 1,1,2-triaminoethenes. Treatment of 1,1,2,2-tetra-aminoethanes with alcohols produces 1,2-dialkoxy-1,2-diaminoethanes. An n.m.r. study of the above compounds is described.
