Polyazabenzo[a]pyrenes

Abstract

12-Acylaminobenz[a]acridines have been cyclised to 6,11-diazabenzo[a]pyrenes. β-Naphthyl-α-aminonicotinic acids afforded 12-hydroxy-7,10-diazabenz[a]anthracenes which as their 1-acetyl or 1-carboxy-derivatives, or as the lactone formed from the latter hydroxy-acid, yielded 6,9,11-triazabenzo[a]pyrenes when heated in urea.
