m-Terphenyl-2- and -2′-carboxylic acids

Abstract

Several aminoalkyl esters of m-terphenyl-2′-carboxylic acid have been prepared by reaction of the sodium salt of the acid with the appropriate aminoalkyl chloride in boiling xylene. The acid was synthesised from 2-fluorobiphenyl and phenyl-lithium followed by carbonation of the product, and has been converted into m-terphenyl-2-carboxylic acid via 1-phenylfluoren-9-one.
