Experiments on the dehydrogenation of some thiazolines derived from cysteine

Abstract

Several 2-thiazoline-4-carboxylic acids derived from cysteine have been dehydrogenated to the corresponding thiazole-4-carboxylic acids with alkaline potassium ferricyanide. Mercuric acetate has also been shown to be effective for a relatively stable thiazoline.
