Certain ketimines of the type R12 C![[double bond, length half m-dash]](https://www.rsc.org/images/entities/char_e006.gif)
N–CHR22 undergo amine exchange when heated with diphenylmethylamine to give the ketimines R12CN–CHPh2, which rearrange to the tautomers R12CH–NCPh2. These undergo a second amine exchange with the production of N-(diphenylmethylene)diphenylmethylamine. The same compound is obtained from the ketone exchange reaction of the ketimines R12CN–CHPh2 with benzophenone.
