Reactions of 2,2-dialkyl-1,2-dihydroquinolines. Part V. The dimer of 1,2-dihydro-2,2,4-trimethylquinoline

Abstract

Only one dimer of 1,2-dihydro-2,2,4-trimethylquinoline can be detected: the compound (II) previously isolated, and correctly formulated, by Elliott and Dunathan, although this has now been found to exist in a second crystalline form. A compound previously claimed to be a dimer is in fact a monoacetyl-derivative of the true dimer.
