Nitro-steroids. Part V. Spectra of nitro-steroids and related compounds

Abstract

Nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, and ultraviolet data are reported for compounds containing the groups CX·NO2(X = H, NO2, Cl, and Br), CCl·NO, and C[double bond, length as m-dash]N·NO2 at positions 3, 4, 6, 7, and 17 of the steroid nucleus. This study leads to empirical relationships between the stereochemistry of these compounds and their spectroscopic characteristics.
