Electronic absorption spectra of some α-cycloalkyl derivatives of Michler's Hydrol Blue

Abstract

Absorption spectra of four α-cycloalkyl derivatives of Michler's Hydrol Blue have been determined for solutions in 98% acetic acid. The dyes give first-frequency bands of constant wavelength, equal to that of the related α-isopropyl derivative. Dimerisation of the corresponding olefin is observed in the case of the α-cyclobutyl and the α-cyclopropyl derivatives.
