Some complexes of diethylenetriamine with nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II)

Abstract

The preparations of the complexes of diethylenetriamine (= dien) M(dien)2(ClO4)2 and M(dien)2(ClO4)2,½H2O (M = NiII, CuII, and ZnII); Zn(dien)2Cl2 and Zn(dien)2Cl2,H2O; M(dien)ClClO4(M = CuII and ZnII) and Cu(dien)BrClO4, and the complexes, Ni(en)2ClClO4 and Ni(trien)ClClO4(en = ethylenediamine and trien = triethylenetetramine) are reported. Metal-ion spectra, i.r. spectra (including spectra of some deuteriated compounds), and magnetic susceptibilities of these and other previously reported diethylenetriamine complexes are reported, and discussed in terms of suggested structures for the compounds.
