Some complexes of diethylenetriamine with nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II)

Abstract

The preparations of the complexes of diethylenetriamine (= dien) M(dien)₂(ClO₄)₂ and M(dien)₂(ClO₄)₂,½H₂O (M = Ni^II, Cu^II, and Zn^II); Zn(dien)₂Cl₂ and Zn(dien)₂Cl₂,H₂O; M(dien)ClClO₄(M = Cu^II and Zn^II) and Cu(dien)BrClO₄, and the complexes, Ni(en)₂ClClO₄ and Ni(trien)ClClO₄(en = ethylenediamine and trien = triethylenetetramine) are reported. Metal-ion spectra, i.r. spectra (including spectra of some deuteriated compounds), and magnetic susceptibilities of these and other previously reported diethylenetriamine complexes are reported, and discussed in terms of suggested structures for the compounds.
