Complexes of NN′-di-(2-aminoethyl)malondiamide, CH2(CO·NH·CH2·CH2·NH2)2, with nickel, copper, and cobalt

Abstract

The ligand NN′-di-(2-aminoethyl)malondiamide, CH2(CO·NH·CH2·CH2·NH2)2(LH2), can function as a square-planar quadridentate ligand with metals able to ionise amide hydrogen atoms. Copper and nickel form neutral complexes, ML, the nickel complex being diamagnetic. With cobalt, the diamagnetic complex [CoL(NH3)2]Cl has been obtained.
