Some diphosphine complexes of tungsten-(III) and -(IV)

Abstract

The preparation of several complexes of tungsten-(III) and -(IV) with 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane (diphos) is described. On the basis of analytical data, far-infrared spectra, magnetic measurements, and, where appropriate, electrical conductivity and molecular weight measurements, the complexes are formulated as [WCl3diphos]2, [WCl3(diphos)2], [WCl2(diphos)2]+Cl–, [WCl4diphos], and [WCl2(diphos)2]2+[WCl6]2–.
