Adducts of ‘mixed’ multidentate ligands and Group IIB metal halides

Abstract

Group IIB metal halide adducts of the types MX2L and MX2L2(M = Zn, Cd, or Hg; X = Cl, Br, or I) of six bi- and terdentate ligands (L) containing phosphine and amine, or phosphine and cyanide, functional groups have been investigated. Infrared and ultraviolet spectra, conductivity measurements, and molecular weight determinations indicate that they have the usual tetrahedral stereochemistry, and are either dimeric with halide bridges, or monomeric.
