The co-ordination behaviour of the cyanate group towards palladium(II) and platinum(II)

Abstract

The preparation and properties of some compounds, ML2(NCO)2[where M = Pd(II) or Pt(II)], using ligands (L) with varying σ- and π-bonding properties, are described. The positions and integrated intensities of infrared bands are used to establish that isocyanato-complexes only are formed. The behaviour of the NCO group is compared with that of the NCS and NCSe groups.
