Studies in germyl chemistry. Part VII. Vibrational spectra of digermyl ether, methoxygermane, and methylthiogermane

Abstract

The vibrational spectra of (GeH₃)₂O, GeH₃OCH₃, GeH₃OCD₃, and GeH₃SCH₃ have been measured, and assignments consistent with non-linear molecular skeletons made in each case. The Ge–O–Ge bond angle in (GeH₃)₂O has been calculated as 139°± 6°, using the valence force-field approach.
