Mercuric halide adducts of dicarbonylcyclopentadienylrhodium and cyclo-octa-1,5-dienecyclopentadienyliridium

Abstract

Dicarbonylcyclopentadienylrhodium and cyclo-octa-1,5-dienecyclopentadienyliridium form stable 1 : 1 adducts with mercuric chloride and bromide. The adducts are formulated as metal donor–acceptor complexes containing rhodium– or iridium–mercury metal–metal bonds. The infrared spectra of adducts are reported.
