The magnetic susceptibilities of osmium(IV) hexahalide complexes

Abstract

The reason for variations in the susceptibilities of hexahalogeno-osmates is discussed. Exchange is unlikely to be the major cause and ligand fields of lower than cubic symmetry readily explain the susceptibility and spectra of these compounds.
