Mass spectra of metal–metal bonded compounds

Abstract

The mass spectra of A3M·M′B3 compounds (A, B = alkyl or aryl; M,M′= Si, Ge, or Sn) produce ions resulting from the transfer of groups A and B from one metal to the other. Appearance potentials and comparative bond dissociation energies for these and related compounds have been measured and are discussed, with reference to the observed modes of decomposition.
