Reduction of phosphine-substituted derivatives of iodotricarbonyl-π-cyclopentadienylmolybdenum(II) and the preparation of some compounds containing tin–molybdenum bonds

Abstract

Reduction of compounds of the type π-C5H5Mo(CO)2(L)I [L = CO, P(OPh)3, P(OMe)3, PPh3, PBu3, and SbPh3] has been investigated. The reaction of the reduced species with acids affords hydrido-complexes. Although neither series of compounds was isolated, their infrared and proton n.m.r. spectra were measured. Reaction of the reduced species with triphenyltin chloride gave the stable derivatives trans-π-C5H5Mo(CO)2(L)SnPh3, which contain tin–molybdenum bonds.
