Dimethylberyllium. Part V. Reactions with amino-alcohols and related compounds

Abstract

The reactions of dimethylberyllium with 2-methoxyethanol, 2-dimethylaminoethanol, 2-dimethylaminoethanethiol, acetoxime, and 8-hydroxyquinoline are described. Methylberyllium 2-dimethylaminoethoxide is oligomeric (n=ca. 7) and its thio-analogue is a trimer, (MeBeSC2H4NMe2)3, both in benzene solution. Methylberyllium acetoximate is tetrameric and its proton magnetic resonance spectrum is discussed. Both methylberyllium 8-hydroxyquinolinate and ethylberyllium 2-methoxyethoxide are tetrameric in solution.
