Complexes of the benzenediamines. Part I. Some complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) with benzene-1,2-diamine

Abstract

The preparation is described of some complexes of benzene-1,2-diamine with cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II). The complexes fall into three types: MLX2[L = benzene-1,2-diamine; M = Co(II), Ni(II), or Cu(II); X = Cl or Br]; ML2X2(X = Cl, Br, NO3, ClO4, or ½SO42–), in which the anion is co-ordinated; and ML3X2(X = Cl, Br, NO3, or ClO4). It has been shown that benzene-1,2-diamine can act as a chelating or as a bridging ligand.
