Complexes of the benzenediamines. Part I. Some complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) with benzene-1,2-diamine

Abstract

The preparation is described of some complexes of benzene-1,2-diamine with cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II). The complexes fall into three types: MLX₂[L = benzene-1,2-diamine; M = Co(II), Ni(II), or Cu(II); X = Cl^– or Br^–]; ML₂X₂(X = Cl^–, Br^–, NO₃^–, ClO₄^–, or ½SO₄^2–), in which the anion is co-ordinated; and ML₃X₂(X = Cl^–, Br^–, NO₃^–, or ClO₄^–). It has been shown that benzene-1,2-diamine can act as a chelating or as a bridging ligand.
