Transition-metal quinoxaline complexes. Part V. Nickel(II) derivatives

Abstract

A number of complexes of nickel(II) with quinoxaline (Q), 2-methylquinoxaline (Mq), and 2,3-dimethylquinoxaline (Dmq) are described. Magnetic and spectral properties are used to show that the complexes MqNiX2(X = Cl or Br) and LNi(NO3)2(L = Q or Mq) have octahedral stereochemistry, whilst those of MqNil2 and Dmq2Nil2 have monomeric square-planar structures. The octahedral halide complex MqNiCl2 is considered to involve both bridging halide and bidentate organic ligands. Some thermogravimetric studies of these complexes are described.
