A method for the determination of sterigmatocystin in grain and oilseeds

Abstract

A sensitive method is described for the quantitative determination of the mycotoxin sterigmatocystin by thin-layer chromatography. A sensitivity of 0·0025 µg is achieved by conversion of sterigmatocystin into the monoacetate, which fluoresces an intense light blue on thin-layer chromatoplates when viewed under ultraviolet light.
