Solvation spectra. Part 21.—Visible absorption spectra of a merocyanine dye (Brooker's dye VIII) in mixtures of t-butanol and water
Abstract
The marked dependence upon addition of t-butanol of the spectra of Brooker's dye VII in aqueous solution is a consequence of a dimer-monomer equilibrium rather than a simple shift. The significance of the result to the problem of water structure is discussed.
