Thermodynamics of binary solutions. Part 2.—Vapour pressures and excess free energies of aniline solutions

Abstract

Using a Swietoslawski ebulliometer, isothermal vapour pressures have been determined for the solutions of aniline in benzene, carbon tetrachloride and chlorobenzene in the temperature range 25–50°C. The activity coefficients and the excess free energies of these systems are evaluated at 25, 35 and 45°C over the entire range of concentrations. The results when compared with Balescu's theory show a reasonable agreement for the systems aniline + benzene and aniline + carbon tetrachloride, while the system aniline + chlorobenzene shows considerable deviations.
