Nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of some hydride-anions

Abstract

The n.m.r. spectra of liquid ammonia solutions of salts of the anions X are described and interpreted, where X= OH, SH, SeH, PH2, AsH2 and SbH2. Proton exchange between X and NH3 is very slow on an n.m.r. time scale, although it is rapid between X and XH, NH+4 respectively.
