Rotational analysis of bands of the gaseous Au2 molecule

Abstract

The rotational analysis of the 2—0 and 3—0 bands of the AX system and of the 0—0 band of the BX system has been carried out from plates of the absorption spectrum of gold vapour at about 2000°C. The bands of both systems consist of simple R and P branches, and both transitions are considered to be 0+u1Σ+g. The internuclear distance re in the ground state is 2.472 Å.
