Base-catalysed reactions of glyoxal. Part III. 1,2-Bis-(2-oxoimidazolidin-1-yl)ethane-1,2-diols

Abstract

The reaction of glyoxal with imidazolidin-2-one and its derivatives gave 1,2-bis-(2-oxoimidazolidin-1-yl)ethane-1,2-diol, and the corresponding derivatives. These compounds were also directly prepared by the reaction of glyoxal with urea or mono-substituted ureas.
