The synthesis of some 1,3-benzodioxans and a revised structure for averufin

Abstract

The synthesis of some 1,3-benzodioxans related to the mould metabolite averufin is described. Deuteriation, n.m.r., and mass spectroscopic studies on these compounds and on averufin tri-O-methyl ether have led to a revision of the originally proposed structure for averufin.
