Chlorinations with diphenyl sulphoxide and acid chlorides

Abstract

Mixtures of diphenyl sulphoxide and acid chlorides behave as chlorinating agents towards suitable substrates. Diphenyl sulphide, 4-chlorodiphenyl sulphide, and the free acid are liberated.
