1,2-O-Ethylenepentopyranoses

Abstract

Treatment of 2-chloroethyl α-L-arabinopyranoside and the xylo-analogue with base afforded the 1,2-O-ethylene derivatives of α-L-arabinopyranose and β-D-xylopyranose. The structures were confirmed by periodate oxidation.
