1-Diazoindane

Abstract

Oxidation with silver oxide of indanone hydrazone afforded 1-diazoindane quantitatively. Photolysis of 1-diazoindane gave indene, indanone, and indanoneazine as major products. The carbene, 1-indanylidene, was presumably an intermediate in this process.
